We Have Two Winners!!!

Thank you to all of our participants!

Our local celebrity judges, Mayor Chuck Infelt, First Lady Lou Infelt and Police Chief Rich Pursell had a wonderful time going around and viewing all of the different Denny the Detour Dogs in Waverly on Friday.  At the end of the day, 26 businesses participate throughout the community. Once finished viewing and judging, all of the scores for each dog were tallied and resulted in a tie for first place. Congratulations go to Darrin Siefken and the team at CrawDaddy Outdoors and to Ryan Frerich and the team at Meyer Pharmacy for all of their hard work and creativity that went in to each of their dog's designs. Several other businesses scored high creating an Honorable Mention list which includes, Bella Nails & Boutique, Bo Studio.121, Century 21 and State Bank.

Our sincere thanks to all of the participating businesses who put time and effort towards their dogs and we encourage everyone to continue to showcase their designs throughout the remainder of the project. If your dog was not ready Friday, we also encourage you to complete your Denny and showcase him as an extension of your business throughout the project. If you still want to purchase a dog and and get creative designing and decorating your business' own Denny, please contact the Chamber office at 319-352-4526 or email at waverly@waverlychamber.com. Dog cutouts can be purchased for $12.

I enjoyed hitting the streets with our judges and helping them tally up their scores at the end of the day! What a great time and good laughs. Thank you judges for making this a great community event! And a HUGE thank you to my friend Anelia K. Dimitrova from Waverly Newspapers for joining us and recording the judging through pictures.

Happy May and Welcome to Our New Business Blog!

It is the first of May AND our first posting on the Waverly Chamber's new Business Blog!

We are excited to keep our community and others updated on the happenings within our organization and throughout Waverly using a blog. So... let's jump right in to what is happening!

Bremer Avenue Project

Thank you to my friend and downtown business owner, Keith Collins for the use of this picture above of the downtown portion of the Hwy. 3/Bremer Avenue rebuild project happening now. The project is progressing nicely with work continuing on either side of the Bremer bridge. Workers are still focused on updating the sewer lines in this area as well as the water hook ups to the buildings. For more information, CLICK HERE to be taken to the City's official page for the project.

Businesses are getting excited about Denny the Detour Dog (our community's unofficial mascot during the Bremer Avenue Project). This is a fun way to engage with the local businesses and retailers and keep spirits high during construction. Businesses are encouraged to paint and decorate Denny according to your own taste or theme. We look forward to having all of the dogs displayed on Friday, May 5th for a contest to see who has the best dressed Denny! For more information about Denny and how your business can receive one and participate in the upcoming decorating contest CLICK HERE.

Upcoming Events

Coming up on Saturday, May 6th is Waverly's annual ArtWalk will be happening! This is always an exciting event for families of any age or size. This kicks off the spring/summer events for the Chamber and we are always blessed with great weather, wonderful artists displaying their crafts and live music throughout the day.  Downtown business will be open and having great deals during the "Here's What's Blooming" Spring Open House event. Walk across the rail trail bridge to downtown for good exercise and shopping fun. More information about ArtWalk can be found by, CLICKING HERE.

The Waverly Chamber's Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser will be taking place on Thursday, May 18th at the all new Prairie Links Golf & Event Center. This is a fun day to play great golf on a terrific links-style course. If you're not a golfer, consider sponsoring a hole and have an opportunity to promote your business on the tee box and engage with all the players that come out that day. It is a wonderful networking event and you are also supporting the Waverly Chamber/Main Street organization at the same time. Call us at 319.352.4526 or email your support to waverly@waverlychamber.com. We look forward to seeing you out on the green!

Finally, to round out the month of May, we are looking forward to having our Q2-2017 Waverly Connected morning networking event on Thursday, May 25 at Waverly Utilities. This is a great opportunity to connect with new and established members of the Chamber. Great business happens at this event and new customers or clients are found as well. Plus you not only get to hear updates from the City of Waverly and the Chamber but there are updates from our host and co-sponsors as well. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to get the most out of your Chamber membership by attending our networking events.

Well, that concludes our first blog post! Not as painful as I thought it would be. Looking forward to next week's. Until then, make it a great week everyone!
